Unlike broad-spectrum recruitment agencies, we exclusively focus on psychiatry recruitment. This specialized approach allows us to develop deep industry knowledge, maintain extensive networks within the psychiatric community, and truly understand the unique challenges and requirements of psychiatric positions. Our dedicated focus means we can provide more targeted, efficient, and successful placements for both healthcare facilities and psychiatric professionals.

Because every organization is unique and comes with their own specific needs, we work with every organization to determine which particular recruitment type we should focus on. Our team is constantly seeking and establishing relationships with providers with a variety of employment desires. Our contacts are those who wish for a permanent position, as well as those who are open to a locum tenens contract, or even a locum-to-perm situation. Your needs may vary, and we're particularly well suited to helping you determine what will work best for your organization, as well as identifying those individuals who are best suited to your needs.

We do only one thing, and we do it very well. Our team of recruiters focuses solely on behavioral health professionals. This narrow focus allows us to establish relationships with the best of the best in this particular field, and allows us to present you candidates that fit your organization's needs as closely as humanly possible.

We have built a network of high quality candidates through industry conventions, professional referrals, webinars for those in training, as well as targeted outreach via connecting with those who match your position's specific needs. Further, our success is built upon the relationships our team has developed over the years with these individuals. At present we have over 70,000 behavioral health professionals and their contact details in our database.

Since we focus heavily on developing our network of behavioral health professionals, we can almost guarantee we will present you the CV or resume of a viable and interested candidate. Further, our contract is contingency-based and fees are only due if a provider succeeds in both making it through the interview process and actually joins your organization, so we are highly motivated when sending candidates to ensure they are a quality option. We operate as an added resource and will certainly introduce you to professionals you wouldn't otherwise come across.

Locum tenens psychiatry refers to temporary staffing arrangements in which a psychiatrist fills a short-term or interim need at a facility, typically ranging from a single shift to an ongoing part-time engagement lasting months or years. The psychiatrist is paid an hourly or daily rate and is generally classified as an independent contractor. Permanent placement refers to the direct hire of a psychiatrist into a full-time employed or contracted position with a healthcare organization. Monroe & Weisbrod handles both. Facilities often use locum tenens coverage to fill an immediate gap while a permanent search is underway, and the two services are frequently used in tandem.

Psychiatry recruitment is among the most challenging in all of medicine for several compounding reasons. First, there is a well-documented national shortage of psychiatrists. The Health Resources and Services Administration has projected a deficit of tens of thousands of psychiatric providers in the coming years. Second, psychiatrists are not concentrated in any single geography, making targeted outreach difficult. Third, the major physician databases that in-house recruiters rely on are notoriously thin when it comes to psychiatry, meaning standard recruitment tools that work well for other specialties routinely underperform here. Fourth, psychiatrists who are actively looking for new positions are a small minority. The most qualified candidates are typically passive, meaning they must be directly approached rather than found on job boards. Monroe & Weisbrod was built specifically around these realities.

Monroe & Weisbrod recruits both psychiatrists and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) for locum tenens and permanent positions. PMHNPs are advanced practice registered nurses with specialized training in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and medication management. In many states they practice independently; in others they are required to have a collaborative agreement with a supervising physician. We understand these state-by-state distinctions and factor them into every PMHNP search. We do not typically recruit other mid-level designations such as Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) or Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), as our focus remains on prescribing providers within the behavioral health spectrum.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MD or DO) who completed medical school followed by a four-year psychiatric residency. As physicians, psychiatrists can prescribe medication, provide psychotherapy, manage complex medical comorbidities, and in some cases perform procedures such as TMS or ECT. A Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse who completed a graduate-level nursing program with a psychiatric specialization. PMHNPs can diagnose psychiatric conditions and prescribe medication in all 50 states, though their scope of practice and supervision requirements vary by state. Psychiatrists generally command higher compensation and are better suited for higher-acuity or more medically complex patient populations, while PMHNPs can effectively serve a broad range of outpatient and community-based settings at a lower cost to the organization.
